For the most part I am self-taught. I do not have any formal education in fiber arts. I learned about sewing and knitting early in my life from my Mom and paternal Grandmother. As an adult, I have taken a few classes at Blue Bar Quilts in Middleton, WI. I often learn through free online tutorials, trial-and-error, and adapting patterns to fit my skill level.
No, definitely not! While I have made all the items that are for sale, I always rely on great designers and patterns to guide my work. Drafting patterns, assembling fabric packs, and dying wool are entirely different skill sets then the ones I possess. I try to provide credit to pattern designers as necessary and a lot of that information can be found on my Instagram feed as well.
While I cut and piece each top and back for every quilt I make, I often collaborate with a couple different long arm quilters to do the actual quilting. Send me an email if you are curious about that part of the process, or who I work with. I'm happy to share more about these amazing artisans!
I am learning how to quilt myself, so most of the smaller projects (pillows, lap or baby quilts) I have completed on my domestic sewing machine.
I work out of my home!
